About SAPS Guide

About

SAPS Guide is an independent information website about applying to the South African Police Service. We publish plain-language guides on the SAPS online application, the e-recruitment portal, entry requirements, intake dates, and how to avoid the scams that target applicants every year.

Why this site exists

The SAPS trainee intake is one of the biggest recruitment drives in South Africa — the previous intake drew 1,049,998 applications for 5,500 posts. With numbers like that, clear information matters. Official announcements are short and formal; social media is full of rumours, fake forms, and fee-charging "agents." This site sits in the middle: accurate, practical, written for first-time applicants.

Everything here is built around the current intake (reference TRA26/27): applications open 21 October 2026, close 13 November 2026, and run exclusively through the SAPS e-recruitment portal at erecruitment.saps.gov.za.

What we are not

We are not the South African Police Service, and we are not affiliated with SAPS, the South African government, or any recruitment agency. We can't accept applications, influence shortlisting, or answer questions about your individual application status — only SAPS can do that, through the e-recruitment portal.

We also don't charge for anything. The SAPS application is free, and so is every guide on this site. If anyone contacts you claiming to represent this website and asks for money, that's a scam — report it.

How we keep information accurate

Our guides are based on official SAPS announcements and the published intake details. When dates, requirements, or portal details change, we update the relevant pages. That said, SAPS is the final authority: if anything here ever conflicts with an official SAPS announcement, follow the official version.
